Laser Cutting

Using a laser beam to precisely cut intricate and small components. We specialize in advanced integration of laser processes. Combining the know-how of laser and various technologies offers a wide range of cutting possibilities. We develop automation solutions with laser cutting processes for different purposes. With these solutions we can precisely cut 3D tubes, engrave and cut thin wires, ribbons, foils and other complex products. Overall, these products consist of different materials. Our machines cut with extremely narrow tolerances.

Types of laser integrations

The right type of laser is as important as the entire manufacturing process itself. Depending on multiple parameters, we advise certain types of laser. Parameters that can influence the selection in laser are: surface, processes required, footprint, material, cycle times and more.

The laser sources suitable for laser cutting are:

  1. Fiber Lasers: highly versatile and well-suited for cutting a wide range of materials. They offer excellent beam quality, high power density, and efficient cutting capabilities. Fiber lasers can achieve precise cuts with minimal heat-affected zones. This makes them a great choice for many high-precision applications.
  2. CO2 Lasers: commonly used for cutting non-metallic materials like foils and certain types of fibers. They produce a focused infrared beam that is highly absorbed by organic materials, making them suitable for clean and precise cuts in these materials.
  3. UV Lasers: ideal for cutting materials with extremely tight tolerances, including thin foils and fibers. UV laser offers very short wavelengths, which results in minimal thermal effects and excellent precision. They are often used in microelectronics and microfabrication processes.
  4. Red, Green and Blue Lasers: another option for precision cutting, particularly for materials like foils and some fibers. They provide good beam quality and can be effective for applications where the material’s absorption characteristics match the laser’s wavelength.
  5. Excimer Lasers: emit short pulses of ultraviolet light and are well-suited for precision cutting of materials like foils and polymers. They are known for their ability to produce very fine features with minimal thermal damage.
  6. USP Lasers: including nanosecond and picosecond lasers, can be used for precision cutting. They offer the advantage of controlling pulse duration and energy to achieve fine cuts with minimal heat impact.
  7. Solid-State Lasers: such as Nd:YAG lasers, can also be considered for precision cutting of metals and some fibrous materials. They provide high power and can be effective for achieving tight tolerances.

BENEFITS

Benefits of Laser Cutting

Different lasers, different benefits. For example, fiber lasers offer great cutting quality for metals with high efficiency. CO2 lasers offer a great solution for flexibility and non-metallic materials. UV-lasers are a viable option mainly for engraving.

  • Fiber laser: high efficiency, versatile, long lasting, high speed
  • CO2 laser: great for non-metals, smooth edges, large working area
  • UV laser: very precise, less heat damage, great for thin materials
  • Red, green, blue laser: specific material compatibility, flexible in use
  • USP laser: micron level precision, versatile, compatible with many materials
  • Solid-State laser: high power, versatile for metals
